Call for Action
One of Sri Lanka’s premier tertiary children’s hospitals that provides free surgery and care, needs our assistance. It requires a the newly built operating theatre in the Orthopedic unit to be equipped with state-of-the art modern equipment. Although this new theatre was built to cater for the continuously increasing demand, it has not been equipped due to shortage of funds.
Whilst the services and care at this hospital are available to all Sri Lankan children, those who will benefit most are children from impoverished backgrounds to whom appropriate surgical care is unattainable.
So let’s join hands this festive season and help raise requisite funds. We are reaching out to you and inviting you to be part of this worthwhile cause.
Christmas is a time for giving…… So open your hearts, dig deep and give generously to assist these children overcome their challenges giving them opportunities available to children from all walks of life. Together let’s get these little feet on the ground, walking, playing, running like they should!
Challenge
In Sri Lanka 70% out of 48,000 annual admissions to this hospital relate to trauma.
This premier hospital is the ultimate referral center for Pediatric Orthopedics in Sri Lanka and facilitates all such complicated Pediatric Orthopedic surgeries at no cost to patients.
The new theatre was built to accommodate these expanded Orthopedic care and services. However, due to lack of funding the necessary medical and surgical equipment and implants have not been procured to-date. Innocent children who suffer in silence in waiting lists to be schedule for surgery.
Objective
The objective of Tarana Foundations “Restore Hope” project is to equip the newly built operating theatre and enable Pediatric Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery to treat the full spectrum of children with these conditions.
This will allow all children, including children from low socio-economic backgrounds whose parents do not have the financial capacity access to treatment in order to manage/rectify the situation. The children and their families will receive the treatment, care and support they deserve by qualified personnel. These children will be given the best chance in life to lead a normal/improved life and dream of a future like any other normal child……
Sustainability
The project will help our Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons at this premier tertiary care children’s hospital in Sri Lanka to help more children with deformities and disorders in a timely manner with minimal delay. It will result in supporting children and their families, to whom appropriate surgical care would either be unattainable or non-existent, to lead a long, healthy, and a productive life. So your support will give these children the opportunity to reach their full potential and be contributing citizens.
